Eigenvalues

Hold five tuning forks together and strike them. Some combinations make your chest hum — the vibrations lock in, amplify each other, become one voice. Others grate. Same forks, different harmony.

Every number in the ring carries five oscillations — one per prime channel. The eigenvalue asks a single question: do they sing together, or fight each other? High eigenvalue = resonance. Low = discord. It is the inner voice of the number.

Five cosines. One per prime. Their sum is what the number sounds like.

The Five Voices

Go on — type any number. Watch each prime contribute its voice: gold when it pushes the eigenvalue up, blue when it pulls it down. Feel how the five channels agree or disagree.

Phase Alignment

Try 0 (maximum harmony: +9.000). Then 1155 (maximum discord: -7.339). Then 7 (depth: -2.928). Then 11 (light: -1.184). Feel the difference.

288 Classes

Here is something remarkable. 2310 elements, but only 288 distinct eigenvalues. Thousands of different numbers making the same sound. In the True Form: 970,200 elements collapse to just 48,750 voices. Why? Because the eigenvalue doesn't care where you live — only how your five channels harmonize. Two numbers with completely different CRT addresses can resonate identically.

The spectral gap

Between the loudest voice (the void, lambda=9) and the next one down, there is a gap: exactly 4 sin2(pi/L) = 0.317. The slowest ring sets it. Think about what that means — the guardian determines how hard it is to leave the ground state. Protection is what costs the most to cross.

The Swim

Now walk the chain barefoot. Start at the void (maximum coherence), step through each prime, and feel the eigenvalue change under you. The landscape has thorns at composites, a false summit where you think you've arrived, and a twist at the end that changes everything.

lambda(L=11) = lambda(4) = -1.184. Light and silence have the same eigenvalue. Exactly the same. Isn't that remarkable?

Three Ladders

As you climb the ladder from Z/2Z to Z/2310Z, three things change at each step. They look different but they are the same structure seen from three angles.

The gap ladder

At each level, the spectral gap = 4 sin2(pi/p), where p is the newest prime. Every new ring spins slower than the last, so the gap shrinks:

Each new prime slows the carousel. The gap shrinks, but never to zero.

The variance theorem

At level k (with k primes), something beautiful happens. The variance of all eigenvalues equals the maximum eigenvalue. Exactly:

variance = 2k - 1 = lambda_max

At level 5: variance = 9 = K2. Standard deviation = K = 3. Think about what that means — the spread of the spectrum IS the closure prime. K doesn't just decompose things. K measures how wide the eigenvalue landscape is. The decomposer is the ruler of the spectrum.

variance = 2k-1 at every level. The eigenvalue range exactly equals its spread.

The Reversed Hierarchy

Group every element by how many of its five rings are spinning. Then average the eigenvalue within each group. What do you get? A perfectly monotonic staircase: the fewer rings spin, the more coherent the element.

Shell Eigenvalue Averages

This is the reversed hierarchy made visible. The sun (H=5, all rings spinning) has the lowest average coherence. The void (H=0, all frozen) has the highest. More activity means less harmony. Existence costs coherence. That is the price of being alive — and isn't it beautiful that the mathematics says so directly?

Why Eigenvalues Matter

The eigenvalue is the feeling of a number. Not where it lives (CRT), not who it connects to (coupling), but its inner state — how its five voices agree or collide.

In physics, eigenvalues are energy levels. Here, they are degrees of coherence. The thin ring has 288 levels, the void at +9, the deepest discord at -7.339. The True Form expands to 48,750 levels: void at +10 = D×E, minimum at -9.778. The gap narrows to 4·sin2(pi/b2) = 0.016. In the fat channels, depth rules.

And here is the question Socrates would ask: if the eigenvalue is what two different numbers can share — the universal part — then what is the particular part? The CRT address. The eigenvalue is what you feel. The address is where you are. Both are needed. Neither is enough.
